SoilCare Inc is an organisation of primary producers, soil professionals and students with special interests in soil health, soil function and biological farming systems.
The aim of SoilCare is to provide:
  • a means for primary producers and others to access and share information on regenerative soil management practices from around the world.
  • an organisation with the ability to seek funding for educational seminars and workshops.
  • opportunities to join informative field trips.
  • influence on public policy pertaining to issues of soil ecosystem health.
  • a movement to address issues of regenerative soil practices and productivity to promote secure livelihoods and vigorous communities.

Southern Cross University

Picture
Southern Cross University is the leading regenerative agriculture university in Australia, with unrivalled competencies in research, data analysis and capacity building. SCU administers the $55m federal soil baselining program and is home to the world’s first regenerative agriculture degree, now the most popular agriculture course in the country. We built the award-winning 28,000 strong Farming Together program, launched the 13,000 strong Regenerative Agriculture Alliance and have trained thousands of farmers on the ground via our national Regenerative Agriculture Mentor Program (RAMP).

The academic structure of Southern Cross is built upon four faculties – the Faculty of Business, Law and Arts, the Faculty of Science and Engineering, the Faculty of Health and the Faculty of Education.

Metagen

Metagen is an Australian-owned biotechnology business which evolved from the paddock up and is focused on providing sustainable solutions to Australian growers to optimise crop productivity and profitability.

The business combines next generation DNA sequencing technology with decades of grower input and product research. Our high throughput laboratory offers affordable agricultural DNA-based analytics. Metagen is focused on improving paddock outcomes using the latest research and innovation. We value sustainable solutions that lift productivity and have a focus on improving crop health through new mechanisms for disease management. Our technology at all times looks to optimise and leverage the natural efficiencies and powerful processes of nature. Scientific advances are showing us there are smarter ways to farm that are bringing gains in nutrient use efficiency. These gains increase farm productivity with sustainability.

As Australia’s only soil and plant health metabarcoding laboratory, Metagen is providing never before seen metrics on how soil health can be improved. Growers are realising gains in disease suppression, nutrient availability and water use efficiency through stimulation of the indigenous soil and plant microbiome. Metagen maintains its grass roots approach to solving the ongoing challenges of Australian agriculture with the research team based in the Lockyer Valley.

NutriSoil Pty Ltd

NutriSoil is a family-owned and operated business in regional Victoria. NutriSoil’s unique vermiculture recycling system produces a concentrated liquid vermiwash. NutriSoil distributes its biological solution Australia wide, it is used as a seed inoculant and foliar stimulant in many different farming systems.

Compost worms at the NutriSoil farm convert organic animal, plant, mineral and ocean products into plant-available nutrients, antibiotic, antiviral and antifungal agents, hormones, signalling compounds, amino acids and an abundance of microbes in the right balance to support healthy plant growth.

As a seed inoculant NutriSoil enhances the microbiome around the seed, building the complexity of biology, resulting in increased immunity, strength and resilience. As a foliar spray, NutriSoil helps increase photosynthesis, increasing carbohydrate and exudate production, feeding the soil biology and again improving plant immunity, strength and resilience.  These processes help increase root biomass, improving organic matter in the soil and in turn building carbon-rich soils, with improved water filtration and health.
