Dr Richard Teague

Dr Richard Teague earned his PhD in Botany and Ecology from the University of the Witwatersrand, in Johannesburg, South Africa. Following this, he continued his research into grazing management systems.  He relocated to the USA, where he held the position of Professor of Grazing-land Ecology in the department of Ecosystem Science and Management at Texas A&M University.  Dr Teague worked with a team of researchers, farmers and policy-makers to help inform best practices in sustainable agriculture.

His research interests include improving soil health and ecosystem services in grazing ecosystems as the foundation to improving ranch-based livelihoods as they relate to Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation.   This involves determining:
  1.  the extent that grazing strategies influence key ecosystem services; and
  2. the extent that different grazing management strategies can be used by livestock producers to mitigate and adapt to alternative climate change scenarios."
Dr Teague's work is highly published as is his work in Adaptive Multipaddock Grazing (AMP).
